There is something you should know about me: I am a cash back maximizer. I label each of my cards with its cash back category percentages and even have a cheat sheet in my wallet that highlights the best card for any type of purchase.
If you took a look at my cheat sheet, you would see that I use my Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards credit card every time I pay for meals, streaming services, grocery shopping, or purchases abroad.
The SavorOne was one of my most used cash back cards before the pandemic and has come in handy during the ‘new normal’. I have no doubt that I will continue to achieve it time and time again. Here’s why.
Eating in a restaurant is chargeable
As a marketing consultant who works primarily with the restaurant industry, dining out is part of my job. The SavorOne card helps me get the most out of my dining spending with unlimited 3% cash back at restaurants.
Whether I’m evaluating a restaurant’s outdoor dining setup, testing contactless ordering and payment technologies, or comparing online ordering platforms, SavorOne rewards me for my hard work and stimulation of the economy.
No foreign transaction fees
Instead of watching Tiger King and learning TikTok dance routines, my guilty pleasure during the pandemic was shopping online.
While my Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards credit card is my card of choice for online purchases, it does charge an overseas transaction fee, which negates any cash back I earn by purchasing from overseas merchants. So whenever I make purchases with a company based overseas, I use my SavorOne card as it has no overseas transaction fees.
I hope that very soon I will be able to take advantage of this benefit for more than just an occasional Asos purchase. Before the pandemic, SavorOne was the card I used when traveling abroad. It is not always easy to find a card with no foreign transaction fees and no annual fees. In addition, it rewards me for the purchases I make most often when I’m on vacation: restaurants and tourist attractions.
Rewards for having fun
SavorOne gives me unlimited 3% cash back on entertainment, which includes purchasing tickets to things like tourist attractions, cinemas, concerts and more. Although I currently only use this benefit to purchase tickets for virtual events, I look forward to using it a lot more in the future when visiting museums, attending shows, and watching movies on the big screen. .
New benefits for grocery stores and streaming services
I was already pretty passionate about my SavorOne card before Capital One’s recent expansion of SavorOne’s cash back offerings: from 1% on streaming services to 3% unlimited, and from 2% in grocery stores to 3% unlimited. (excluding supermarkets like Walmart and Cible).
Now, it’s the only credit card I use in grocery stores. That translates to about $ 140 back for my annual grocery bill as a single adult. If you have a lot of mouths to feed, you could earn big cash back on your grocery shopping.
And now that SavorOne is refunding me 3% on streaming services, I’m making money on my Netflix bill. While this cash back only translates to around $ 5 per year for me, it makes me happy to know that I am maximizing every purchase.
Workable welcome offer and attractive referral bonus
New cardholders can take advantage of a $ 200 cash sign-up bonus after spending $ 500 within three months of opening the account. Unlike some credit cards, which have a hard-to-hit spend threshold for their welcome offers, SavorOne’s threshold is much more accessible.
If like me you have had the SavorOne card for a while and have already used your welcome offer, you can earn extra money by referring friends to the card. You will receive $ 150 for each person who opens a SavorOne card through your Referral link, for a maximum of $ 500 per year.
I love the SavorOne Cash Rewards credit card because it rewards me for the pleasures in life, like dining out, having fun and gorging on Netflix, as well as mundane necessities like shopping for groceries. It also comes in handy in saving me money on overseas transaction fees when shopping or traveling overseas. The SavorOne card will be a staple in my wallet for years to come.
